Well folks, it's that time of year again and I must say, the more snow we get here in Winnipeg, the more I feel that glimmer of excitement towards the Holiday Season. I know what your thinking... "Oh great! I have this long list of people to buy for but I have no idea what to get them." Now before you start to stress out, I am happy to say I got you covered this year.
As I started to think about who I was buying for this year I realized that the main focus should not be on who per say, but what? What do they like? What are they into? Once you start asking the right questions, the easier the whole concept starts to become. Scroll down to check out some gift ideas based on personal interests.

Likes: Entertaining, Home Décor, Food, Mixology
Whether you’re a foodie or enjoy the social aspect, here’s to the host(ess) with the mostest. A person who has entertaining down to a science. From picking out the perfect wine pairing to the strategically placed décor, it looks effortless. Now that I live on my own I know just how much work is put into it, so why not give a gift that makes the job a bit easier? Best way to be invited to the next dinner party? Instead the same old bottle of booze for the host(ess) gift, how about trying something that will inspire the next big event!
3. Trend Setter
Whether your style is classic or casual, you always seem to be the best dressed in the room. The person who takes a second look in the mirror and knows they look good. In other words, the boujie friend …. You know who you are!
Like in last years gift guide, I still firmly believe in staying away from purchasing clothing for other people unless you know the recipient's true size. Here are some clothing and accessories that will meet the standards of any trendsetter.
4. The Techie

6. The Workaholic
The workhorse, the provider, the person who probably doesn't even know what TGIF stands for. When you see them, they are probably still talking or thinking about work. Give them something that will increase productivity or make their day a bit more relaxing.
7. Self Care Guru

Self-love is the best gift you can give yourself. Remind a loved one how much they mean to you this season with some some self-care of their own.
8. The Art Connoisseur
Interests: Art, Music, Theater, Film
For the creative soul in your life. Regardless what your passion is, there is definitely something for you!
Lately I've noticed that you can get pretty much anything on vinyl which would be a great option for any music lover. If you're going retro for the music lover's gift or the recipient already has a record player, it's safe you say you can find their favourite artists music in record form.
The movie buff in your life should already have a Netflix subscription (who doesn't!) but you could try a temporary subscription to an alternative movie streaming company. This will give them an opportunity to watch shows exclusively viewed on that network and see which one they like better. Click the Netflix icon to see a list of alternatives. If you are from the US, Filmstruck + ROKU Express are great options as well.
9. The "Hard to Please"
Interests: Experiences, Thoughtful Gifts
Ah the dreaded “Hard to Please” person in your life. What do you even buy for the person who has everything? Homework time ppl! Get out your notebooks…
The secret behind buying this particular person their perfect gift is understanding who you are purchasing for and what they enjoy. This is where the decision between gift and experience comes in based on how much free time the recipient has. For example, my mother is one of these “Hard to Please” people because she is not frivolous and if she needs something, she will go and buy it. Since she is now retired and has a bit more free time, an experience we can both share together could be a great option. Just make sure you pick something that the recipient likes do to… it is a gift for them after all.
Now for the other type of “Hard to Pleaser”, my dad. Because he does not have as much free time, an experience may not be the best gift. In this case you have 2 decisions, either bite the bullet and buy them something outrageously expensive or hit them with a nostalgic gift that reminds them of the good ol days. For example, during my poor student days a made a “guys night in” package for my dad that included all of his favorite snacks and beverages. While the latter may be more price conscience, it will definitely take a bit more homework to find the perfect gift. Still not sure how to go about it? Ask some friends and family, they may have some good old stories that could spark an idea!
The following are some experience based gifts for the person who has everything, including some free time to spend with you. Since these gifts are geographically significant, make sure to check out classes in your local area! If you happen to live in winnipeg, well you are in luck my friend.
Some nostalgic gifts for that person who has it all, and not alot of time:
10. Unisex Gift Exchange
Interests: Getting the Best Gift, Gag Gifts, Useful Gifts
Also known as Secret Santa, this group game is played at a lot of family and work holiday parties as an icebreaker. While nobel, it still sucks to be stuck with a crappy, useless gift. Don't be the boring giftcard giver at this years holiday gift exchange, try giving a gift that everyone will fight over.... or get at least get a good laugh out of.
Since some of these gifts are less than the normal limit, feel free to mix and match or add your favourite holiday treats to finish off the gift!
I hope this guide was able to inspire the perfect gift for everyone on your list. If not, let me know in the comments below! Happy Holidays!
